Hello! I’m Joy, and welcome to Joyly Designs!
Joyly Designs came to be in 2013, just a few weeks after my wedding. The previous four months had been spent knee deep in crafting supplies as I worked to create a variety of DIY touches to add to our special day. Shortly after the wedding, I began getting requests from friends and family to make decorations for their own events and Joyly Designs was born.
Then just two years into my marriage, at the age of 35, life took an abrupt turn. I was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer. This experience was terrifying, but after about two years comprised of chemo, radiation surgeries etc, I realized it was even more of a reason to focus more energy on the things I love, creating, being one of them. I am lucky to say that I am a survivor today and that is largely thanks to my doctors and treatment at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Therefore, I could think of no better way to give back than to donate a portion of all of my breast cancer related cards to the Inflammatory Breast Cancer Program.
I hope my perspective as a survivor helps others get a glimpse into what it's like to have cancer and the things you should (and shouldn't!) say to someone battling something difficult. And I hope my other products put a smile on your face. If you're happy with my high quality handmade goods, please feel free to share the love and tag me @joylydesigns on instagram.
Thanks for stopping by!
